Why a Permit Is Non-Negotiable
Every visitor who treks mountain gorillas in Uganda must hold a permit issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Each permit grants one person a single, strictly-timed hour with one habituated gorilla family — and only 8 permits are released per family, per day. Numbers are capped to protect the gorillas, which is exactly why peak dates disappear months in advance.
As a UWA-partnered operator we reserve and purchase permits on your behalf in your legal name, matched to your passport — so you skip the queues, the guesswork and the risk of sold-out dates.

How Reserving Works

Tell us your dates and park — we check live UWA permit availability for that day and gorilla family.
2. Reserve your dates
We place a hold and confirm the exact permits, sector and family for your trek.
3. Secure by bank transfer
Pay by secure bank transfer, quoting your booking reference. We buy the permits in your name.
4. Get confirmed
You receive written confirmation and your permits — ready to trek.
Before You Book
- Permits are tied to your name and passport — bring the passport you booked with.
- Minimum trekking age is 15 years.
- Low-season permits ($600) apply to April, May and November only.
- The Habituation Experience ($1,500) is available in Rushaga, southern Bwindi.
- Permits are non-refundable once purchased from UWA — travel insurance is strongly advised.
